Cee Bailey Tall Windshield

WHY?  As much as I loved the V-Strom, the stock windshield just doesn't work for me.  At highway speeds it allows a small amount of head buffeting and a tremendous amount of wind noise--riding for long distances on this bike just isn't fun.  I have had great luck with Cee Bailey shields in the past, so I decided to see what they had to offer for the 'Strom.  They offer two different configurations for the pre-2004 models so I elected to try the taller model, thinking that I could always cut it down slightly if necessary.  This is a very tall shield, a full 12 inches higher than the stock unit.  I wanted a light gray tint to cut down on glare.  I picked the shield I wanted from the Cee Bailey site and placed my order on their secure server.  The cost was $139 plus shipping.

SERVICE. As usual, it was excellent.  Three days after ordering I received an email confirming shipment.  The new shield arrived five days later.  It was packaged securely and arrived well-padded and undamaged. the quality of this shield was first-rate, with no scratches, bubbles or rough edges.

INSTALLATION. Not difficult at all.  I had heard stories of poor fit on the early models of this windshield, but this one slid into place with no problem and fit perfectly.  Since it is held in place with only 2 screws the installation took me less than 5 minutes.

RESULTS. Really nice.  Though I barely can see over the top of the new shield, most of my riding will be done looking through it; that's fine by me, though some riders don't like to do so.  The difference in ride quality with this shield is incredible--I experienced no head buffeting and wind noise is decreased by 80-90%.  Cruising at 70 MPH all I can hear now is the sound of the engine.  I may well experiment with a slightly lower or "lipped" windscreen later, but the Cee Bailey unit is a great improvement for me.

Worth the money? Absolutely. This modification completely changed the character of my V-Strom--now I enjoy those long rides!
